i will always know there is spam in the spam box
when you get 200 spam emails everyday -- you dont have time to check to see if each one is REALLY spam, so it is annoying when a spam message is marked as unread.
I also have a label for "Bacn"--emails that aren't really spam, but are low priority things like listservs, store adverts, etc. Stuff you want, but not right now.
There has only ever been one false positive from Gmail's spam filters so I trust it enough to not need to be shown a spam count. I check it often, just in case, but i don't want my eyes being drawn to it each time i open gmail.
